I took advantage of PalmOne's e-mail offer three weeks ago to purchase the Treo 650. I ordered the phone and received it. I contacted Sprint, as per e-mail directions from PalmOne, and was directed to go to a Sprint Store to have my current Sprint PCS number moved to the Treo 650. The technical support manager at the Sprint Store looked up the Master Subcity Lock Code for the Treo 650 from Sprint's main technical support database. Sprint must have this number in order to program the phone number into the phone. SPRINT'S MASTER SUBCITY LOCK CODE FOR THE TRE0 650 DID NOT WORK FOR THE PALMONE PHONE. Several national tech support sources were contacted by the Sprint Stpre tech support manager. No one had a workable Master Subcity Lock Code for this PalmOne phone. THE SPRINT TECH SUPPORT MANAGER THEN CONTACTED PALMONE TECH SUPPORT. THE SPRINT TECH SUPPORT MANAGER WAS DIRECTED TO CONTACT SPRINT TECH SUPPORT, AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE OR INFORMATION WHATSOEVER. PalnOne's Sales Center offered only one option ... return the phone, period. No exchange was offered for an obviously defective phone. The Sprint tech support manager and a shift supervisor at Sprint's customer service 800 number found PalmOne's support to be "unacceptable." DO NOT ORDER A SPRINT PCS TREO 650 FROM PALMONE. THEY WILL NOT OFFER SUPPORT OR AN EXCHANGE IF THE PHONE IS DEFECTIVE.

Can you give us an update? Were you ever able to port your Number over after the initial lack of information hindered you? Or did you return the phone in disgust?

Obviously, the stores should have had better info (i.e. a code that will work!) available during the first few days of this brand new phone rolling out but apparently this store didn't. (Often this can be resolved by contacting a rep personally in the Corporate Sales/Service division if you have personal knowledge of one. I know several very savvy reps who could have taken this on.) Also, PalmOne's approach of ordering via email without porting the number was not the optimum method. Palm probably should have offered a turnkey approach, shipping the phone with number ported already, as is done by Corporate sales reps.

Note to Sprint and all other carriers as well as all Manufacturers: Have the ducks in a row before introducing new product = happy customers . This concludes our Business MBA course for the day.

Problem: Palmone and not Sprint.

Well... just wasted two hours on the telephone with PalmOne to report another software bug:
Play an mp3 with Real Player
While Real Player playing music and change to any other screen (e.g. answer phone)
By accident, eject the SD Smart Card from the Treo 650 (e.g. try to answer the phone and press the wrong area).
Then the thing crashes so bad you have to remove the case remove the battery cover and press the hard reset button!
PalmOne's answer is "It is like a floppy on your computer, you should exit your program before you remove the floppy!” They continue: “It is not a bug since you did not shutdown the application properly”
I answered “It should not crash the whole PDA!”
They answered “sorry you need to shutdown the application first, this is not a bug!”

Well Duh! Pushing any button on the device should not crash any device. PalmOne you get an ‘F’!

Bug 2:
Go to contacts
Select any contacts
Click on the properties button
Send contact
Bluetooth
Wait until the search is done
Click cancel
and you just lost 1/10th the screen at the bottom left hand side.
PalmOne's answer: Not a bug, call sprint!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Video Bug
Put in new SD Card inside the unit
Try to record 10 minutes of video
The video is lost and your Treo ran out of primary ram
Can not copy to SD card because you need space to free space.
PalmOne's answer: Make many small videos and copy to SD card and then delete from primary memory.
My answer:
How about changing your program to record to the SD card and bypass the primary ram!
