Picture Mail From Sprint Makes It Even Easier for Customers and Their Friends Who Receive Picture Mail Shares to Print Pictures Directly From Their Phones or From Online Albums and Messages
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., and NEW ORLEANS, March 14, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- CTIA Wireless 2005 -- Sprint (FON) today announced that several new regional retailers will offer printing services from Fujifilm for Sprint's Picture Mail customers, bringing the number of locations to nearly 2,700.
These additional retailers are members of the Fujifilm digital fulfillment network and represent a variety of well-known regional stores, including ShopRite, Longs Drugs, Fred Meyer, Kings Soopers and BiMart.
These new stores complement the more than 900 existing retailers already in service, including Sam's Club, Ritz Camera and Wolf Camera.
The retail-printing feature enables Sprint's Picture Mail customers to send digital pictures directly from select Sprint PCS Phones or send their online Picture Mail album to any participating retail photofinisher for printing.
Family and friends can also join in the fun by printing the photos they receive via Picture Mail share, utilizing Fujifilm's "Get the Picture Online Service."
"As the quality of pictures captured on camera phones improves, more customers are interested in printing those photos," said Pierre Barbeau, general manager - Picture Mail, Sprint.
"By tripling the number of participating retailers, Sprint customers can easily print directly from their handset or online albums and messages to a number of retail stores conveniently located in their neighborhood."
When Sprint customers take pictures with their camera phones, they have the option to search for a retail photofinishing location by zip code, order prints of different sizes and quantities, and pick up their prints in a matter of hours, depending on the retailer's service options.
Picture Mail customers and those receiving a Picture Mail share can select a retail photofinisher nearby or one close to a friend or relative, either locally or across the country.
"Consumers are embracing mobile imaging as an extension to their digital and analog imaging lifestyle and want convenient ways to create prints from these captured memories," noted John Prendergast, Vice President, Strategic Business Development, Imaging Group, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc.

Sprint announced America's first one-megapixel camera phone in July 2004, improving the quality of mobile pictures for those who wish to save and print life's everyday moments.
Sprint now offers three one-megapixel camera phones. In the past year, Sprint PCS customers have sent more than 300 million picture and video messages over the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network.
Sprint customers can purchase a Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Pictures Pack for $15 per month, in addition to their current service plan. With this package, customers get unlimited Picture Mail to take, upload, send, preserve and enhance an unlimited number of pictures; unlimited Sprint PCS Vision access; 100 SMS text messages; and up to $5 credit per month towards the download of premium services.
Sprint customers without a Sprint PCS Vision plan can pay $5 per month to take, upload, send, preserve and enhance an unlimited number of pictures. Casual data-usage rates of $.01 per kilobyte apply for sharing and uploading pictures.
The cost of printing service varies by participating retailer.
