If a major carrier (one that owns a nationwide network) offers both post paid and prepaid plans, the calls are generally always going to be indistinguishable as to quality, etc. They will route them together over the same network in the same manner. If you choose a prepaid wireless carrier that is not the owner of it's own network and has to buy time to place your calls, then your calls may not always go over the same network each time (unless they have an exclusive arrangement. example Virgin Mobile USA exclusively routes calls over the Sprint network), so quality could differ significantly.
