I want to get my parents a cell phone but they are both nearly 70. I don't want them to have to pay continually for a service they may only use once every couple of months. I picked the Virgin Mobile minute plan because it said the minutes were good for a year but once you go to activate, it says you have to $20.00 every 90 days on the phone even if you haven't used the ones already on the phone. My folks travel about once a year and should have a cell phone when they do but they don't want to pay for one all year just for the trip. Also, my mothers health is becoming fragile and Dad doesn't feel comfortable leaving her alone and a cell phone would help, but they may not use it for months at a time. Is there a cell phone and plan that I can get that doesn't require them to put money on it but maybe once a year?
