TDK Systems’ new FONE STYLA package allows users to personalise their Bluetooth handsets with premium mobile content in less than 60 seconds with no more charges for content.
Taking advantage of the capabilities in the many new handsets already on the market, FONE STYLA lets users personalise mobiles without paying the customary premium SMS, or other additional charge for the latest ring-tone, game or theme. FONE STYLA uses Bluetooth to deliver content to the phone handset from the user’s PC as opposed to Over The Air (OTA) delivery that network operators and content providers use to charge users.
“Mobile content has become big business,” says Nick Hunn, Managing Director of TDK Systems. “As mobiles morph into games consoles, movie and audio players, the demand for entertaining and amusing content continues to soar – but until now, users have had little choice in how content is delivered to their devices and they’ve had to pay premium rates set by the network operators and content providers. FONE STYLA changes all that.” he said.
“First, users learnt they didn’t need to pay for music, next they learnt the same for videos. Now, free mobile content has reached the web - polyphonic ring-tones, themes, wallpaper, games and even movie clips are widely available. Respected analysts have already warned mobile operators that “mobile content that is for sale can be obtained from peer to peer networks” - until now the limitation has been that the means of getting content onto your phone has been limited to a few hardcore geeks.” he added.
FONE STYLA breaks the existing mobile content chain by allowing users to use their own PC to source content from websites on the Internet and peer to peer file sharing sites. Included in the product package is a software application developed by TDK Systems that enables users to easily transfer content from their PC to their handset.
“We’ve made phone personalisation easy and fun,” said Stuart John, TDK Systems’ head of products & services, “it’s going to be the next craze for the ‘rip it, mix it, burn it generation’.” He continued: “The software application with FONE STYLA allows users to put the content they want onto their phone in seconds without spending typically, £3.75 each time. Now, if they want to change their ring tone every day, they can.”
The FONE STYLA package consists of a Bluetooth USB Adaptor and software applications on a CD: it includes all a user needs to personalise a phone handset with Bluetooth capability. The adaptor and software support 18 handsets - as more are added TDK Systems will list details on the FONE STYLA website (www.fonestyla.com) which also features help and content guides showing users where to find free content.
The FONE STYLA package allows ring-tones, movies, games, themes and wallpapers to be transferred to the majority of Bluetooth-enabled phones. The CD whets users’ appetites with 5 movies files that play on non 3G handsets - including models such as Sony-Ericsson’s T610 and the Nokia 6600 that you didn’t even know supported movies. The CD also includes the content transfer application and TDK Systems’ 1.4 Bluetooth software. The latter includes a new Pairing wizard with new security features as well as anti-snarfing and anti-bluejacking guides. FONE STYLA is compatible with virtually all types of laptops and desktop PCs and operates on Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.
