This is a forum for cellphones, mind you. But I’ll bite. I have a few friends and it’s a little different from what we’re used to here. For one, Cellphone models aren’t beholden to carriers like they are here, for the most part. The advantage is that phones are way cheaper and you can pick and choose models. The disadvantage is that their carriers don’t always take advantage of services and features. Many cell carriers outside the US don’t offer directory assistance (but who the hell wants to pay loads for that, I use the free options like free411 etc.) or voicemail. Most stuff happens via text, where Americans tend to prefer calling.
