Verizon added a big name player, Nickolodeon to it's streaming video offering. Clips of Nick Jr content will be available to VCast customer who pay $15 extra a month for the video service. (Verizon has not yet followed the lead of other North American carriers who are putting live TV on their phones.) What do you think of the new Nick offerings? Music videos from Nick Jr. favorites Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues, The Backyardigans and LazyTown will be the first available content on Nick Mobile, with Nickelodeon television programming scheduled to roll out this summer. Eight Nick Jr. Videos, each approximately one to three minutes long, are available at launch on Verizon Wireless' V CAST wireless broadband multimedia service: The Backyardigans' 'A Pirate Says Arrr' and 'The Yeti Stomp'; LazyTown's 'Bing Bang Song' and 'There's Always a Way'; Blue's Clues' 'Colors' and 'The Planets Song'; and Dora the Explorer's 'We Love to Sing' and 'Tenemos Amigos.' Nickelodeon plans to release three new Nick Jr. videos each week. V CAST from Verizon Wireless is the first wireless broadband consumer service in the country, allowing customers to view crystal clear short content on demand and videos because it runs on Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network - the only widely available wide-area wireless broadband network in the United States. For $15.00 monthly access added to their Verizon Wireless calling plan, customers get the V CAST VPak that includes unlimited access to a wide array of more than 300 regularly updated video clips from leading content providers. Unlimited basic video clips are included, but application download fees apply for 3D games, premium video clips and all other Get It Now(R) applications. There are no airtime charges to download or stream and watch video clips and other V CAST content. Verizon Wireless V CAST customers also receive monthly access and unlimited browsing on Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web 2.0 SM news and information service. In addition, customers can choose from premium video clip content, available at additional cost that includes music videos and more. For a limited time, customers who sign up for V CAST will receive two months of service free. V CAST also gives customers unlimited airtime to browse and view applications in the other familiar Get It Now shopping aisles - such as getTONES and getGOING. V CAST customers can find Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. content on the LG VX8000 phone from Verizon Wireless.
