Miniature pigs promoting exclusive camera phones, unique picture messaging service

Scarborough, Ontario - November 3, 2003 - In the latest adaptation of its popular nature-themed marketing approach, TELUS Mobility today unveiled a national advertising campaign featuring Lucie and Sparky, miniature pot-bellied pigs that will promote TELUS Mobility's exclusive wireless camera phones and picture messaging service through the busy holiday season.

"TELUS Mobility has built a powerful national brand that has instant recognition right across Canada. With camera phones set to become the gift to give and to get this holiday season, our new spokesanimals will get our unique picture messaging message across in a fun and future friendly way," said Wade Oosterman, TELUS Mobility's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In a recent report by respected industry magazine RCR Wireless News, new research showed global sales of wireless camera phones hit 25 million in the first half of this year, already surpassing sales of digital cameras worldwide.

Only clients using TELUS Mobility's exclusive camera phones can share their pictures instantly - and even attach voice or text messages to them - by sending them directly to other camera phones or to any e-mail address worldwide. They can also store their pictures in their own online photo albums on TELUS Mobility's Web site or send them to major photo finishing retailers for printing.

Pot-bellied Spokesporkers
Lucie and Sparky are miniature pot-bellied pigs, which originated in Southeast Asia and have now become popular as housepets in North America. Selected by TELUS Mobility for their engaging expressions, gentle nature and tiny size, the photogenic spokesporkers will appear in television ads, in daily and national newspapers, on billboards and on transit vehicles across Canada.

The print and outdoor ads feature the pigs in a variety of humorous situations - such as Sparky wrapped in a blue blanket under the headline "It's a boy!" - followed by the tagline "cool camera phones say it instantly." The first TV ad features Lucie floating under a red balloon while the popular 1980s song "99 Luftballons" plays in the background.

Adds Oosterman: "Often, the best or even the only way to describe a situation, whether it's a business opportunity such as a new real estate listing, an outing with friends or family, or an unusual sight on your vacation or on your own street, is with a picture. Our depictions of Lucie and Sparky in various unique and humorous situations underline that only TELUS Mobility has built a picture messaging service that lets camera phone users capture and share those moments instantly."

New camera phone: Audiovox 8900
The second in a series of exclusive camera phones from TELUS Mobility, the Audiovox 8900 is both a tri-mode digital PCS phone and a 300k pixel digital camera. The compact silver flip phone features a high-resolution colour display, built-in speakerphone and the ability to download polyphonic ringtones, images, games and other software. Available in early November from TELUS Mobility's Web site, corporate stores and dealers across Canada, the Audiovox 8900 will cost $349 for clients signing up for month-to-month service or as little as $199 for clients choosing term contracts.

All TELUS Mobility camera phones allow clients to send their pictures to other camera phones or to any e-mail address; they can also send a text message to their online photo albums or to any digital wireless phone. Clients can save pictures to their own online albums on TELUS Mobility's Web site. Storage is free for 60 days, after which clients can choose to purchase permanent storage. They can organize their pictures into slide shows and albums, customize with titles and descriptions, add links to favourite sites, output their pictures to their own printers, or send them via e-mail to major photo finishing retailers for printing.
