SCARBOROUGH, ON, Dec. 23 2003 - TELUS Mobility today launched Canada's first fully integrated Windows(R) based PDA camera phone, the Samsung i700 Windows(R) Powered Pocket PC Phone Edition 2002. The i700 allows users to talk, connect to enterprise networks, exchange e-mail and send VGA-quality photos directly to their business colleagues across Canada. "With the Samsung i700, TELUS Mobility offers a Pocket PC camera phone that takes full advantage of our national 1X data network and our unique picture messaging service," said Wade Oosterman, TELUS Mobility's Executive VP of Sales and Marketing. "It's perfect for mobile business users who need a phone that can do it all - take and send pictures and multimedia files, exchange text messages, access data on the Internet, play MP3 files and take advantage of all of Microsoft's powerful Pocket PC Phone applications. It's a great way to make voice calls too!" At the heart of the Samsung i700 is a 300 MHz processor, 64 MB RAM memory, Pocket PC Phone Edition 2002 OS and a 240 x 320 pixel, 65,000-colour touch-sensitive LCD screen. The i700 includes Pocket PC applications including Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows Media Player, Microsoft Reader and MSN Messenger, an MP3 player with CD-quality stereo sound, wireless fax and modem, USB connection and infrared (IR) port. Fully integrated with the PDA is a rotating digital 300K VGA camera, a hands-free speakerphone, voice-activated dialling, silent vibrating alert and voice memo capability. The durable battery provides up to 240 hours of standby time and more than 4 hours of talk time. Suggested retail price on the Samsung i700 is $899.99 on a 3-year contract or $1,049.99 for month-to-month.
