Experts are advising that cell users do NOT disable the password feature on their voicemail. See the story at http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7046776/ Basically, "spoofing" is using a device to give the Caller ID on your voicemail access the wrong info, tricking it into seeing your cell phone # calling into retrieve your voicemail, when the call actually comes from somewhere else. Spoofing devices are illegal -- and for sale. Someone spoofing your phone can then not only access your voicemail and other settings but also can obtain a dial tone and CALL OUT USING YOUR MINUTES. In short, always have your phone set to require a password when accessing voicemail. You can set this up on speed dial with your voicemail, a couple of pauses and your password to make it easier for you when calling from your cell to retrieve vm. But don't disable the password required feature.
