I signed up for a FREE trial Fido account in a mall. I took the phone to our family farm where my bros-in-law lived and found that the Fido phone could not connect, whereas their Telus and Rogers phones were fine. First, the mall location closed! So I drove 20 miles and returned it to a different Fido location -- all within the free trial period. They accepted the phone, but Fido sent me a bill for almost $100! These are the costs of your "FREE" trial, they said! I calculated the ACTUAL charges I had incurred and sent them a cheque "in full and final payment", saying that was all I was obligated to pay, and that I would not pay any more. They deposited the cheque, and IMMEDIATELY -- without any call to me, or correspondence asking for clarification -- handed my account over to a collection agency. Dealing with the wanna-be-bullies from the collection agency is always fun for anyone with in IQ higher than their chest measurement, so that wasn't a problem -- rather it defines the kind of company that Fido is: "Sell 100 any way you can. If 75 comes back, no problem -- you still sold 25. Then hand over the rest to a collection agency--there are always a few "dumb a** customers who will send them money" Lesson learned: Be careful when dealing with whores, drug pushers and and unscrupulous phone companies! Oh, BTW, did I mention that the uncrupulous phone company I had problems with was Fido? BEWARE!
