With over 275 GSM roaming partners in over 140 countries, Fido lets you enjoy the most extensive worldwide coverage available.

Activation

When you leave the country with your Fido for the first time for destinations other than the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, you must call Fido Customer Service at least two business days prior to your departure to activate your international roaming and international calling services. There's no charge to activate these services and no monthly fee-all it takes is one quick call.

International roaming is offered only to customers who subscribe to a monthly package with invoice.

For most countries, you'll need a handset that works on different frequency bands than in Canada. The following Fido handsets will work overseas:
  • Motorola V60i
  • Motorola V66 blue
  • Nokia 5100
  • Nokia 7210
  • Siemens M55
  • Siemens S55
  • Sony Ericsson P800
  • Sony Ericsson T300
  • Sony Ericsson T310
  • Motorola P280
  • Motorola L7089
  • Motorola V66
  • Sony Ericsson T68i
  • Sony Ericsson T200
  • Ericsson T28w
  • Nokia 8890
  • Sony Ericsson T616
  • Siemens A56
  • Nokia 6340

Roaming in Japan

Travelling to Japan? To roam on Vodafone's W-CDMA network in Japan, all you need is your Fido smart card and a W-CDMA handset. These special handsets are available for rental at Tokyo's Narita airport, Osaka's Kansai airport or Vodafone's Tokyo office. Don't forget to bring your Fido smart card with you when you go.

Roaming in Korea

For roaming in South Korea, all you need to do is pick up a special CDMA rental handset at the airport when you arrive. The rental costs as little as $1.50 (Canadian funds) per day. Simply insert your Fido smart card in the rented handset, and it's just like roaming in any other country.
