It's hard to deny when they're comparing coverage areas. Cingular looks like the choice for this youth oriented company with the catchy name. This could be a real plus for traditionally minded Cingular, if they truly break out and go for (among others) the trendy younger market. And including customers with poor credit in Cingular's efforts could pose a real challenge to carriers such as Sprint, who has long had the reputation for (some say much too) easy credit terms. What would you need to see in a service like this for it to catch your attention? ----------------------------------------------------- Hop-on plans low-cost MVNO service By Dan Meyer May 6, 2005 Hop-on.com Inc. reported plans to launch a prepaid mobile virtual network operator service using its low-cost handsets and airtime purchased from an unnamed "major" wireless operator. According to the company's Web site, the service, which is scheduled to launch June 15, uses a GSM network that looks similar to Cingular Wireless L.L.C.'s on-network coverage map. Cingular currently provides prepaid MVNO network access to 7-Eleven Inc.'s branded service. The Hop-on service charges 15 cents per minute and includes long-distance and roaming charges. Customers will also be provided with free voice mail, call waiting, caller identification and three-way calling. Text messaging will also be available for 15 cents per message. Hop-on said it plans to target credit-challenged customers, the youth segment, immigrants and travelers with its offering. Hop-on added that the service will be available from the company's Web site and eventually at national retailers and wireless dealers across the country. from http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=22537
