ATLANTA, DECEMBER 8, 2003 - Cingular Wireless today announced that wireless industry veteran Jim Ryan has been named vice president of data product management and business marketing. Ryan's appointment adds further momentum to the company's drive to lead the market in wireless data solutions. Ryan is responsible for developing and managing Cingular's portfolio of consumer and business data products. He will also oversee a dedicated team focused on business segment marketing and partner strategies. "Jim brings proven leadership abilities and tremendous experience in wireless data to the company," said Marc Lefar, chief marketing officer, Cingular Wireless. "Under his direction, we plan to leverage our broad portfolio of data products and both our legacy and advanced data networks to meet the growing demand for business data solutions." "The advent of high speed wireless networks and converged voice and data devices is opening a whole new world of opportunities to meet our customers' needs," said Ryan. "It's an exciting time to be in the wireless business and I look forward to helping Cingular stay at the forefront of product and marketing innovation." Ryan has more than 10 years of senior management experience in the wireless industry, building, packaging, marketing and distributing value added wireless services across the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Cingular, Ryan served as executive vice president and interim chief executive officer for Teltier Technologies, a leading provider of wireless presence and availability solutions which he helped merge with Dynamicsoft. Ryan also gained industry experience as vice president of data services for Sprint PCS, and played a key role in the business development division of mmO2, British Telecom's former wireless subsidiary. In addition, Ryan served as chief technology officer for Genie Internet, a global mobile Internet organization. Ryan holds a Business Administration degree from Binghamton University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Indiana University. Ryan's appointment is effective immediately, and he will report directly to Marc Lefar. Cingular Wireless has more than one million business data subscribers on its networks today and nearly half of the Fortune 1000 companies are Cingular customers for voice and data solutions, including "Blue Chip" companies like, FedEx, AAA, Pepsico, General Electric and Sears, Roebuck & Co; Financial Institutions like Bank of America, CitiGroup, Fidelity and Morgan Stanley and Government agencies including Office of the White House, U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and Department of Defense.
