DALLAS, December 09, 2003 - Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung), the third largest manufacturer of wireless handsets in the U.S., today announced the availability of the SGH-x426, the company's thirteenth GSM handset for the U.S. market in two years. The x426 is Samsung's second handset for AT&T Wireless since the industry leaders announced their alliance in August 2003.

This combination pairs AT&T Wireless' powerful next generation network with Samsung's leadership in handset development and manufacturing. The trendy, compact wireless phone fulfills customers' demand for clamshell phones and provides advanced messaging features and a vibrant color display. Consumers can easily access AT&T Wireless' wide range of mModeTM content including news, entertainment, travel, music and games - all on the company's high speed GSM/GPRS network.

"Samsung works closely with wireless carriers to design handsets that are tailored to their consumers' preferences," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of Samsung's wireless terminals division. "The affordable x426 was designed to appeal to buyers looking for a stylish form factor and feature-rich applications."

Ketan Kamdar, vice president of device development at AT&T Wireless added, "For the AT&T Wireless customer the combination of Samsung with the enhanced wireless data services of mMode is compelling. With the handset's one touch access to mMode, users have access to thousands of ring tones, graphics and more than 300 wireless games all from their Samsung handset."

The mMode service also enables users of the X426 to keep up with the latest music trends by providing customers with the ability to preview music clips, checkout concert schedules or even purchase CDs - all from their AT&T Wireless phone. Pricing for mMode starts at $2.99 per month all the way up to $19.99 a month. Business users on the AT&T Wireless next generation network can also check email, confirm airline schedules, find their favorite restaurant or get driving directions all from their Samsung device.

Weighing only 2.8 ounces, the x426 also features a 65,000-color UFB (Ultra Fine Bright) display for enhanced viewing of restaurant reviews, driving directions and the location of the closest ATM machine on the way to dinner.
