February 05, 2004 REDMOND, WASH - Customers who want to take advantage of the fastest national wireless data connections in the United States can now receive a free EDGE PC card modem when they sign up for a two year unlimited data plan with AT&T Wireless.
From today through April 30, AT&T Wireless customers who sign up for a qualified two-year $79.99 unlimited data plan will receive a free Sony Ericsson GC-82 modem card valued at $249.99 (after rebate).
"Fast access to information on-the-go is more important than ever, and with EDGE, businesses can really mobilize employees by giving them the ability to take their desktop experience out of the office," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of business data solutions for AT&T Wireless. "This offer is another example of AT&T Wireless' commitment to deliver innovative and aggressive programs to meet our customers' needs."
"We are very impressed with the fast speed of the EDGE service," noted Chris Darrell, vice president of information systems and services at GENEX Services, a national health care management company. "EDGE provided our field sales teams quick and convenient access to email and extremely fast access to corporate documents, such as RFPs, graphic presentations, and spreadsheets - all critical information when trying to close a deal or be responsive to customer requests. We expect our sales teams nationally to be able to use their time even more productively by taking advantage of EDGE throughout our company."
According to a January poll of chief information officers by CIO Magazine, information technology spending is expected to increase more than eight percent over the next 12 months.
AT&T Wireless EDGE service is available today to nearly 220 million people living and working in 6,500 cities and towns, and in areas along some 30,000 miles of interstate highways. When using the EDGE wireless modem card, mobile workers can access the Internet and corporate intranet sites, or download e-mail with attachments with text, graphics or spreadsheets, at speeds averaging 100-130Kbps and bursts up to 200Kbps.
