Cingular is hoping to cash in on golf's wide appeal to youngsters and not-so-youngsters alike with a unique partnership with the PGA.
This duffer's net portal is gonna make some golf fans into wireless addicts, I think. It's got everything except the tour events, live in streaming video. (Is that next? Wouldn't be surprised.)

Cingular Scores Hole in One for Golf Fans With Launch of Wireless PGA TOUR Portal
ATLANTA, Aug 08, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Golfing fanatics can feed their addiction on their wireless phone thanks to the new PGA TOUR Portal from Cingular Wireless. Today's launch of the TOUR Portal ahead of the 87th PGA Championship will allow most of Cingular's more than 51 million customers access to the most up-to-date, in-depth and content-rich PGA TOUR information available.
Cingular's TOUR Portal will be highlighted by the award-winning TOURCast Mobile, a cutting-edge graphical application that puts wireless users almost as close to the action as the caddies. TOURCast Mobile provides real-time statistical information on PGA TOUR tournament leaderboards, including unprecedented coverage of every player, every hole and every shot. SHOTlink, the signature component of TOURCast Mobile, features a graphical representation of what is happening on the course at any moment to many Cingular Internet-ready wireless phones. The TOUR Portal also allows users to customize the news feature to deliver up-to-date scoring alerts and breaking news about their favorite players.
The Internet version of TOURCast Mobile, a popular premium feature on PGATOUR.com, was recently announced as an Emmy nominee for Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for the Enhancement of Original Television Content by the National Television Academy. This will be the first time that TOURCast has been offered in wireless format.
Golf Digest Mobile(TM) will also offer a vast library of wallpaper and screensavers showcasing the magazine's award-winning golf photography, in addition to serving as a one-stop resource for researching the best courses to play among over 6,000 public and resort links in North America.
