Folks like simple, streamlined packages. That's what Alltel is thinking as they roll this out. So Alltel users, are you more likely to use messaging at an increased rate under a plan like this? Compare this to your current plan and let the world know. Have they done you a favor, or no? from http://custom.marketwatch.com/custom/earthlink-net/mw-news-companyreleases.asp?GUID={44AED757-CC0A-416F-ACCD-CC081DD203A9}&destination=&symb=AT ALLTEL Offers Industry-First Flat Rate Plans for Wireless Messaging; Video Messaging Now Available on Motorola V710 LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Mar 2, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Wireless messaging has never been so simple - or so affordable. ALLTEL (AT) is the first wireless company to combine text, picture or video messaging in one pricing bundle that gives customers freedom to send any of the three messages at a flat rate. "ALLTEL is setting the industry standard in wireless messaging by offering customers simple and affordable plans for text, picture or video messsaging," said Kevin Beebe, group president of operations for ALLTEL. "Customers want easy-to-understand rate plans and convenient, reliable service, and ALLTEL has delivered." The new price plans, marketed as the Axcess Messaging Pack, simplify wireless messaging in two ways. First, the price plans include all three message services, which means customers do not have to keep track of separate rates for video, picture and text messages. Second, the plans apply equally to incoming and outgoing messages. Customers who make heavy use of wireless messaging can purchase an Axcess bundle that covers any mix of 1,500 messages for just $14.99 per month. The other options are even more affordable: a $9.99 bundle covers any mix of 750 messages per month and a $5.99 bundle covers any mix of 300 messages per month. All three bundles carry a flat, easy-to-remember 5-cent overage charge per text, picture or video message. Video messaging is available on the Motorola V710 wireless phone. ALLTEL offers the V710 for $249.99 with a two-year contract. Customers can send and receive 15-second video clips to any e-mail address. They also can upload videos and photos to their online album for storage. ALLTEL offers picture and video messaging through a strategic partnership with Ericsson. ALLTEL is a customer-focused communications company with more than 13 million customers and $8 billion in annual revenues. ALLTEL provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and broadband services to residential and business customers in 26 states.
