My friend has a Motorola flip...(I know, I know...no I dont know the model #, but it is silver and can do the cool ring tones and was purchased about 6 months ago from AllTel) that she got as a part of a package from Alltel. She wants to switch to Cingular and keep the phone...
I was just wondering if anyone would know if Alltel phones work on the Cingular network.
God, I hope this isnt a dumb question....if so, let me have it.
peace,
jay

hey jay,

sorry, Alltel phones won't work with Cingular. Two different technologies.

Not really a bad question since carriers don't really talk about this much to the public at large. Even some carriers using same technology do not allow using another carrier's phones on their service.

since you are dealing with US carriers: in general, phones from TMobile, ATT, Cingular will usually (not always) work on these 3 networks.

Verizon may at times accept phones from Alltel or Sprint. But usually not the other way around.
