I have an extra LG-4500 phone that I got from Verizon, I wanted to give it to my parents but Verizon doesn't cover their area and Alltel does.
I know that both carriers use CDMA phones, just wondering if anyone knew if there are some differences that wouldn't allow one to work on the others network.

Of course they are going to tell you that because they want you to buy one of their phones. The bottom line is Verizon and Alltel both use CDMA technology so any CDMA phone will work, the only thing you have to do is program the phone with the phone number and correct SID for the carriers area. Verizon use to in the past put lock codes in their phones which may be an issue regarding programming. If that is the case they will give you the unlock codes with just a phone call. I worked for both companies as a sales rep for about 2 years at each of them and I personally used a Verizon phone on the Alltel network it can be done.
