December 12, 2003 - SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - ALLTEL has expanded digital wireless service in 10 areas of southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas as part of a $25 million network improvement project to meet growing customer demand for voice and data services.

Customers will notice expanded digital coverage and enhanced service in and around Clever, Collins, Cross Timbers, Eldridge, Fordland, Kirbyville, Linn Creek, Washburn, and Alpena and Gilbert, Ark.

"Customers should see an increase in first-time call connections, experience fewer busy and dropped calls and improved call clarity," said Julia Anderson, vice president and general manager for ALLTEL's Missouri wireless operations, based in Springfield. "ALLTEL is committed to getting it right for customers and what they want is a reliable network that's available wherever they travel, and responsive customer service," Anderson said.

Nationwide, ALLTEL has invested more than $700 million to expand and improve its digital wireless network, adding more than 155,000 square miles of coverage area, which is about the size of the state of California.

Digital service provides customers nationwide calling plans including Total Freedom and National Freedom so package plan minutes can be used virtually anywhere in the United States with no roaming or long-distance charges.

In addition, customers can add ALLTEL's Axcess data services, a complete line of business and personal features from wireless Internet, text messaging, email, high-quality customized ringtones and time and labor saving business applications to photo messaging with sound and text.
