LITTLE ROCK, Ark. December 4, 2003 - ALLTEL is adding Axcess Picture Messaging to its digital wireless data services, allowing customers to take, send and receive color photos with voice and text messages.
"Axcess Picture Messaging delivers the latest high-quality wireless sight and sound features to our customers at an attractive price," said Philip Junker, ALLTEL's executive vice president of marketing. "Sharing a special moment while you're in the moment is as easy as making a call, and the phone and service make an excellent holiday gift choice."
ALLTEL Axcess Picture Messaging allows customers to snap a color photo, type a text message, add sound and then send that message to any e-mail address or to another ALLTEL Axcess Picture Messaging phone. Customers also can upload to "My Media," an online album where they can manage their photos. In addition, customers can send photos to other ALLTEL wireless customers, who will receive a text message with a Web site address where they can view the photo online.
Other features include customizing caller ID with a photo, so when a family member, friend or business associate calls, their photo is displayed on screen; using photos as wallpaper for phone screen display; and storing up to 20 photos in the phone.
ALLTEL's Axcess Picture Messaging service - available at 600 ALLTEL retail sales outlets - is free for the first month and then $3.95 per month. Customers can enjoy unlimited picture messaging until July 2004. Thereafter, customers can send or receive up to 30 picture messages per month. Additional picture messages can be sent or received for 25 cents per message. The service utilizes the LG LX5450 camera phone, which is priced at $99.95 with a two-year service contract and $149.95 with a one-year agreement.
