ALLTEL has introduced the new Kyocera Slider SE44 tri-mode wireless phone for use with Touch2Talk, the company's popular walkie-talkie communications service. ALLTEL is the first wireless carrier to offer the new handset with push-to-talk functionality.
"The Kyocera Slider phone with its impressive design and features will have significant appeal for the growing number of consumers, including families and teens, who want to instantly communicate through Touch2Talk," said Frank O'Mara, ALLTEL executive vice president of marketing.
The Kyocera Slider SE44 features a unique sliding faceplate that reveals the phone's keypad for dialing, sending text messages and downloading a variety of wireless data applications, including ringtones, games, email and more through ALLTEL's Axcess services. The phone will be $79.95 after a $30 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.
"The Slider's unique design and rich feature set have made it one of our most popular handsets ever, especially in the fashion-conscious youth segment," said Don McGuire, VP of global marketing for Kyocera Wireless Corp. "The new push-to-talk functionality and ALLTEL's great introductory pricing position the Slider SE44 PTT to launch as one of the hottest push-to-talk handsets on the market."
With Touch2Talk, customers can talk instantly to each other and switch to a wireless call at the touch of a button ensuring no missed calls.
Touch2Talk's innovative features allow customers to see on their phones the availability of other Touch2Talk customers, while also giving all customers the option of using a "do not disturb" feature.
Customers can use their existing phone numbers with Touch2Talk and set up on their phones individual contacts or a group list with up to 10 participants. A maximum of 30 groups can be created.
Touch2Talk can be added to any wireless calling plan. Cost ranges from $5 for 100 Touch2Talk minutes per month to $20 per month for unlimited Touch2Talk minutes.
Group minutes vary depending on the option selected.
