I have a Sanyo PM-8200 Sprint Camera Cell Phone. Monday night I dropped it into water by mistake. It comes on, but the buttons do not work. Is it dead? And get this...I don't have insurance...what was I thinking?!?!? And the one year warranty (I've only had it for 6 months) does not cover wet phones. I am so upset. Is there anything that can be done? Frown

Your phone probably still has water inside of it. If you are extremely lucky, there is possibly a highly trained and inexpensively priced cell phone repair shop in your area.(well we can hope, can't we?) Try the dealer where you bought the phone and see if they provide this service and at a reasonable cost or not?

If no go, then if you are able to remove the cover and let it COMPLETELY air dry out in a warm room (microwave not recommended) , you will be able to further assess if any permanent damage is done (corrosion, etc). Since you basically have nothing to lose at this point, it is worth a shot.

Has anybody else had experience with this type of problem?

Microwave??!!

HAHA... I never would have thought people would try that. I guess some folks will try anything.

When I was a teenager I once threw a patio floodlight bulb into a microwave (during a house party) for 30 seconds just to watch the pretty colors...

I think that was the same night somebody ran a thin rope through the legs of all the dining room chairs and out the window attaching it to someone's rear bumper. I never knew furniture could move that fast!

ahh memories... thank goodness I grew up and straightened out.

Well! here is your solution....Power off the device and try to completely cover the phone in a bowl of rice. Rice being a natural desiccant will help absorb the excess moisture. Let it dry for at least 24 hours and DO NOT try to charge the device.Try this and let me know whether it works or not!
