problems with Samsung 427, help!

I am new to this forum, so please bare with me.

I just got the Samsung 427. I was using a Nokia. I must say the Nokia was much easier to use.

I try writing text messages but also have problems. First of all, how many characters if I'm just using letters? Because I was typing in the message and it wasn't long at all and it wouldn't go anymore. The Nokia I had was 250 characters per message. Anyone know?

Also had a problem with loosing my call. Battery was full and service was good. Happened twice. What's up with that?

My 427 can type 918 characters per message.

And as far as your call droping, maybe you were in a bad service area????

Thanks for your reply, but you must be talking about a different phone. There is no way this phone will hold 918 characters, you must be kidding, right? Mine holds 50 characters per message. But thanks for the laugh!

Samsung sgh-x427 is what I have, isn't that what you have???

Your problem is that you trying to send an e-mail not text message. (that is when it is only 50 characters) go to menu and go into messages,- then settings - then go into sms settings. After you enter it just hit hit the back button. It is now set to send text messages not e-mail. Go to Write New and you will see that you can type 918 characters per text message.

Oh my gosh! You are so right! Why do they have to make it so difficult. Maybe that is why some of the text messages didn't get sent. I kept getting a text message back saying the message hasn't been sent but will cont. to try. And some times she didn't get them at all. Now I know why.

Thanks so much for that info. I was wondering why they would only allow you 50 characters.

Anything else I need to know about? Anything really cool? One thing I don't like is when you set it up to vibrate and ring, it vibrates first then rings, but by the time you get to it, you've missed the call.

Do you know that you can add pictures and animated things in your text message? If you don't, all you have to do is go into options while you writing a text message. It's under add object.

Yeah it sucks that it vibrates then rings, but you can download some that vibrate and ring at the same time. They are .mmf ringtones. Let me know if you have the internet on your phone, I can give you a website where you can get them for free.

That is so cool! Thanks for that info. I don't have Internet on my phone as of yet. But maybe down the road.

Also one more thing that doesn't really relate to this, but...do you by some chance listen to country music? If so, please tune in to the USA Network on March 6th at 9pm central time, as my daughter will be singing on NASHVILLE STAR! I forgot to add this before, when and if you do get the internet on your phone go to wap.ranova.org using your wap browser that is located in the Funbox menu. There is Free games, ringtones and wallpaper.
