LAS VEGAS – 8 Jan. 2004 – Wheels of Zeus™, Inc. (wOz™), a start-up focused on developing an innovative wireless platform focused on location-based services, today announced that Motorola, Inc., (NYSE: MOT) Broadband Communications Sector plans to develop personal wireless solutions that leverage the wOz Platform™.

Founded by technology innovator and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, wOz has developed a wireless platform that can serve as the foundation for a range of location, status, control, and communications solutions for consumers and businesses. The company’s wOz Platform includes a reference design, wireless network, and online service that enable people to locate and take better care of what’s important to them. The unique, local wireless network technology of wOz can provide long-range performance in harsh environments, and long battery life at a low cost.

Motorola Broadband intends to license wOz technology as part of its strategy to deliver next-generation home electronics products that provide high value to consumers and offer compelling business models for service providers. Motorola plans to offer wOz-based products through direct channels and through relationships with leading service providers.

Motorola Broadband develops products and solutions that promote connectivity in and around the home. Leveraging Motorola’s retail brand presence and global leadership in digital set-tops and cable modems, Motorola Broadband’s consumer solutions business offers a portfolio of digital entertainment, telephony and wireless home networking solutions targeted directly to consumers. These products are available in over 7,000 retail locations in the United States, including Circuit City, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Office Depot and Wal*Mart.

“Motorola is committed to making smart, simple and fun broadband products that support our vision of the ‘connected home,’” said John Burke, Motorola corporate vice president and general manager, consumer solutions business. “The wOz platform directly supports this vision by offering consumers highly specialized capabilities that will help people stay connected to what is important to them. We are excited about Steve Wozniak’s new venture and look forward to the prospect of delivering products to the market based on wOz technology.”

With this announcement, wOz marks an achievement in executing its strategy of licensing technology to recognized consumer and business market leaders.

“Our strategy is to work with select market leaders that will uphold and support our philosophy of developing useful and easy-to-use products,” said Steve Wozniak, founder, president, and chief technology officer of Wheels of Zeus. “Motorola not only supports this philosophy but also provides a strong brand and distribution channel necessary to deliver wOz-based solutions to consumers on a massive scale.”
