I'm using a Motorola V551. I'm trying to dial through my cell phone to access the internet. It starts the dialup, but the connection breaks. Is this Cingular's attempt to force me to use there GPRS system? Is there a way around this?

I am also interested to know this. All I really want to do is to log into juno/yahoo when I'm on the road. One might think it would be easy, but after several days, I'm still not there!

Do you mean you are trying to use your phone as a modem for your laptop?

I am having a similar problem.
I have the connection paired betwee nmu PC laptop and the phone.
When I dial from the computer, the correct number shows up on the phone and the phone dials. but I always get the reponse that the network computer is not responding.
If I use the same number via a modem and land line phone I get the connection first time.

This may be against your carrier's Terms of Service. Has their tech support been willing to help you on this or at least let you know you can?

Having the Phone Connection with Blue Tooth not completing is the same problem I have.

I have cingular service
I called their tech support
They told me I need the web service turned on
They turned it on for $50.00 !!Said that this will allow it to work now there should be no problems.
Here are the details

I have an IBM Laptop T40
I have Windows XP SP1
I bought Kensington USB adapter 33085 Technology 1.2 with WIDCOMM drivers
Installed Blue tooth SW from CD OK with no problems
Paired my Motorola V551 phone OK
Devices see each other OK
Initiate a dial up on my computer by clicking right mouse on the icon of device and select "connect"
After entering user name and password everything seems OK
Laptop screen Message ... Dialing 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx
Phone receives the string of numbers OK,
On the Phone message window "Calling 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx"
The call is not completed, hear 3 beep tones!

On the phone
When the phone issues 3 beep tones, that is the end of the call.
The dial up software on the PC responds, with a no connection error.
The phone goes back to its original state and we start all over again!

The number in the "recent list" on the phone is OK
Verify number by manually be pressing "send"
Connection to Server OK
Computer tones are heard - OK

It is as if the phone does not transmit the number fully, when initiated from the laptop

Any ideas

Have you tried dialing #777 from the phone?

I did as you suggest #777, then hit send. Got the standard error message as not being able to complete the call on the cell phone.

What was the reason for #777?
BTW *777 here puts you into the state police!
