The jack plug in my mobile phone (motorola) has gone Kaput and is not repairable. The model is AC2-41A11, about two years old. Is it possible to charge the battery removed from the mobile phone. There are four connections. Measuring with volt meter the maximum charge is between first and fourth connection. Is there any way I can recharge the battery (detached from the mobile)? The charger is working perfectly and I have soldering iron etc.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

That's a tough one... I'm not an electronics technician so if it were me I would hesitate before attempting to rig a solution together with a soldering iron.

Have you looked for a desktop charger that will charge the battery without the phone?

I recommend the soldering iron.

Reply to two respondents

1.There are desktop battery chargers for this model (the correct model number is T191. However these are for use with battery inserted into phone - through the jackplug connection which is Kaput (socketwise).

2. What of solderling Iron!

Thanks for suggestion.

I gave the wrong model number. The correct model number is Motorola T191.
There are desktop chargers for this model, but, as far as I can see, they all operate with battery in phone, through the jackplug socket (charger port) which is Kaput and cannot be repaired. I am looking for some solution to charge battery when disconnected from phone.

Yes I understand what you need. I'm not sure this is going to be easy to come by though. I was only ably to find one place in the UK (none in the USA) that appears to sell a desktop battery charger for the T191.

1001accessories.com/motorola-t191-mobile-phone-desktop-charger.htm

You probably should email them and ask if this will charge the battery without the phone.

I would also contact Motorola directly and ask for assistance. That's probably the most direct route to a solution.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Wink

Have you tried this site, it shows you how to repair the jack connection.

mobilespares.co.uk/shtml/m2dismantle.shtml

This is one part mentioned on the site:

The RED dots indicate where the Charger is sited. PLEASE NOTE, this is a very regular problem with ALL Motorola's. The charger points IF KNOCKED whilst the plug is in tend to pull the charging block off the circuit board. Using the afore mentioned soldering iron and solder back in place.

I have fixed one myself and it works great. Good luck
