My vx3200 now will only work with an earbud. I had tried to plug one into the phone that was wrong(supposed to be for this phone) and after that I can only use an earbud. I did not try to force it into the phone. It is a real hassle to not be able to use the phone normally. It also took me 3 days to get an earbud that fit the phone!
