I have an LG VX4500.

Something bad happened earlier today; my phone accidentally fell into water. After this happened I immediatly removed the battery, dried it and the phone thoroughly.

After that, I charged the phone for a couple of hours, and now it is back on. However, I can't seem to get service. When I turn it on it just says "Searching For Service..." and stays there.

Could this have been caused by water in my phone, or am I simply in a no service area?

The only reason I ask this is because it's saying "Searching For Service..." and I'm in a place where I was always able to get service before with no problem.

I havn't been able to leave my house yet to try other locations.

So, what do you guys think?

Do you have insurance on the phone? If so, find out what they will and will not cover to see if you have a viable option there. Ask about deductible, etc.

If you have no insurance or possibly of replacement from it, then you have basically nothing to lose in trying further measures.

There may still be water inside the phone. Opening the phone up may have previously voided your insurance, but now might as well go for it.

If you are able to remove the back or the front face plate or both, do it. Dry the phone completely in a very warm dry environment for a day or so. (Microwave not recommended!)

Try it again. Hope it helps. If not, scour the Buy Sell Forum here and elsewhere as well as eBay. Before buying, obtain the ESN from the seller and verify with your carrier that the phone can be activated on their network.

Give us a report back how goes it with this situation. We're pullin' for ya.
