Seoul, Korea, December 18, 2003 - New Yorkers and out-of-towners alike are invited to capture the spirit of the holiday season and put some romance into their lives by kissing under the largest mistletoe ever to appear in New York City. The event, billed by its sponsor, LG Electronics (LGE) (CEO & Vice Chairman S.S.Kim), as "Pucker Up, New York," will take place in the heart of the city in bustling Times Square. In addition to discussing how the company will promote its brand during 2004, LGE executives spotlighted an exciting lineup of new product innovations across its three business units - Digital Display & Media (DDM), the Digital Appliance (DA), and Telecommunication Equipment & Handset (IC)- including a 76-inch plasma television, the largest in the world. Between 3:30 and 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 17 in USA time - one week before Christmas Eve - the giant mistletoe will be the brightest beacon in Times Square's canyon of light, and is expected to attract hundreds of New Yorkers seeking a brief, romantic interlude with their significant others during this busy holiday season. Displayed as a high-definition image on LG Electronics' new interactive billboard, the mistletoe can be seen for many blocks from the streets of Times Square. Residents, commuters and passersby are invited to join in the festivities, which will take place in living color on the brightest, largest and most technologically advanced screen in Times Square. "We want to offer New Yorkers a special holiday treat this year in conjunction with the official lighting of LG's new interactive Times Square sign," said T.J. Lee, president and CEO of LG Electronics USA, Inc. "In the midst of this hectic season, we thought that hanging the world's largest mistletoe atop Times Square was a great way for people to take a break from their busy lives and share some holiday spirit with someone important to them." LG's new Times Square sign includes a screen that is 50 feet high and 84 feet wide. Its high-tech LED video display takes the concept of signage to a new level of digital entertainment. The LG sign is being showcased in advance of its formal unveiling on Dec. 17 as part of a highly visible $100 million U.S. brand campaign to highlight the global consumer electronics company's growing brand presence in the United States.
