Before you assume it's the handset and not the carrier's coverage, be sure to compare with another Alltel user in the same location at the same times with a different model.
If it is the handset and you must stay with Alltel because that's what the boss is paying for, then check with other Alltel users to find what handsets they are satisfied with. And use your 14 day period after purchase wisely to make sure the phone measures up or goes back.
