December 17, 2003 - Kyocera Corporation (President: Yasuo Nishiguchi) has annouced the establishment on December 8, 2003 of Kyocera Telecommunications Research Corporation (KTRC) in San Diego, California in the United States. KTRC will function as a center of research and development of advanced technologies for the telecommunications equipment division of Kyocera Group.
The Kyocera Group operates its telecommunications equipment business worlwide, mainly in Japan, North America, China, Australia and Southeast Asia. Its research and development activities have been made separately in Japan at the R&D Center in Yokohama and in the United States at Kyocera Wireless Corporation. In response to the global diversification of the market needs in recent years, Kyocera will use the combined research and development strength of the Kyocera Group to maximize synergy in the development of core technologies and thereby strengthen its research and development system.
In the continuously growing telecommunications equipment market, Kyocera will strive to become the top manufacturer in the sector for CDMA-related devices. Kyocera will also continue with the research and development of advanced technologies for the next generation telecommunications systems as a leading manufacturer of new wireless broadband Internet access systems.
