Consumer Reports Recommended Verizon Phones
We follow the smartphone buzz pretty closely here at the cell phones blog, so we definitely know which Verizon handsets get the most hype (HTC Droid Eris and LG eXpo for example). But which are most practical to own? For that, Consumer Reports has some recommendations. Rather than focusing on what’s flashy and cutting edge without any regard for pricetag, Consumer Reports narrows down your selection of Verizon phones to the highest scoring models for performance, features and value. Here’s what they picked for January 2010:
Consumer Reports likes this phone because of its magnificent multimedia features and it’s intuitive QWERTY keyboard that made the enV series one of the most popular Verizon phones for texters. The LG enV Touch kicks it up a notch with its namesake touch screen and document-handling capabilities, making this a viable phone for business users, too. The predecessor of this phone – the LG enV3 – is also on this list.
The Alias 2 has a funky folding design that neatly tucks away the ample QWERTY keyboard. Closed, it’s pleasantly clutter-free, but flipped open, you can let your thumbs fly uninhibited. Sturdy, yet pocketable, this is a great phone the melds value and functionality.
Another texting phone with document-handling features and a physical QWERTY. This is a slider phone that’s incredibly easy to use.
If you’re a purist who still likes your phone to look like a phone, then the LG VX8360 fits your niche. It’s a flip phone that Consumer Reports liked for it’s ease of use and resilience.
