HTC Touch Pro2
Price: $200
Carrier: Verizon Wireless
Operating System: Windows Mobile
The HTC Touch Pro2 scored high, according to Consumer Reports. That’s because of its excellent display, messaging, web browsing and multitasking. It’s lowest ratings were on voice quality and battery life, which were a middling “good.”
HTC Imagio
Price: $200
Carrier: Verizon Wireless
Operating System: Windows Mobile
The HTC Imagio has high marks that match the HTC Touch Pro2 plus a little bit better voice quality. The HTC Imagio also has a 5 megapixel camera and works internationally.
HTC Droid Eris
Price: $100
Carrier: Verizon Wireless
Operating System: Android
This is Consumer Report’s favorite HTC smartphone running Android and ours, too. This phone was actually tied with the HTC Imagio but had slightly lower ratings for messaging due to its lack of a physical keyboard.
HTC Hero
Price: $180
Carrier: Sprint
Operating System: Android
This is the HTC Droid Eris’s twin brother over the on the Sprint/Nextel network. The HTC Hero got just one less point than the HTC Droid Eris, and we think we know why. Read our comparison of the HTC Droid Eris vs. the HTC Hero for more details.
There you have it – those are the best HTC smartphones according to Consumer Reports. As you can see, Verizon Wireless really dominated the field here, though Sprint squeezed in there with the HTC Hero. Other honorable mentions include the HTC Pure (T-Mobile) and the HTC Touch Diamond (Sprint). Agree? Disagree? Share your opinions in the comments section.
