Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground on the T-Mobile Sidekick LX Tony Hawk Edition

Among this week’s new phones here at cell-phone-plans.net is the T-Mobile Sidekick Tony Hawk LX Edition. Pro skater and video game mogul Tony Hawk has been a huge fan of the Sidekick ever since it first came out and now he has one to call his own. The Sidekick Tony Hawk LX Edition is a 3G phone with video recording capabilities (great for catching evidence of Tony Hawks tricks for skate videos) and is stylized with a grip tape texture and customized Tony Hawk graphics. Also available for the T-Mobile Sidekick LX is the mobile version of Tony Hawk’s new game: Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground.

The game is available for download on the T-Mobile Sidekick and even lets you play against a friend. While obviously not as flashy and impressive as the X-Box, Wii and Playstation version of Tony Hawk’s new game with the same title, the mobile version of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is pretty fun and is worth a download. Check out some more tips and tricks below:

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground for T-Mobile Sidekick

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground for the Sidekick LX is much like the Tony Hawk games for PC and video game consoles. You unlock levels and earn points by navigating through different areas and landing tricks. You can upgrade your stats and unlock other skate modes as well.

Overview

There are three locations in each level: halfpipe, flat land and grinding. Each location has its specific goals (such as collecting all the letters to spell SKATE). To move on to the next level, you must complete three goals in each location.

If you complete all the goals in all the levels, you unlock free skate mode, which allows you to rack up points in the half pipe for 2 minutes for a high score.

Performing Tony Hawk’s Tricks

To perform tricks, follow the on-screen prompts by pressing the corresponding keys on the d-pad or trackball. You need to get at least 60% of the keypresses correct to land the trick. In free skate mode, you can perform tricks without the on-screen prompts.

To grind, press left and right to adjust your balance. Keep the bar in the middle to avoid losing your balance and falling off the rail.

If there are two sets of on-screen prompts displayed, choose either one. The more difficult sequence nets you more points.

Completing successive tricks will fill your special bar. When it is full, you wil do bigger tricks and rack up more points.

Skate Shop

Throughout the levels, you’ll collect cash and stat points. You can trade these in at the Skate Shop to improve your stats in the following four areas:

Air - Gives you more “hang time” in the air so you can complete more tricks.

Speed - Let’s you move faster on the ground and go higher off of jumps.

Rail – Makes it easier to balance while grinding.

Balance - Makes it easier to balance while doing inverts and other lip tricks.

Horse Mode

You can play versus a friend in horse mode. Switch off performing tricks. If one play lands a trick and the other does not, they get a letter. The first person to spell HORSE is dished an insult of the victor’s choosing.
