T-Mobile Adds “Even More” and “Even More Plus” but Phases Out myFaves
This October, T-Mobile unveiled its all new price plans, dubbed “Even More” and “Even More Plus” which are designed to bring the struggling wireless carrier back into the top tier. What’s good about T-Mobiles new plans? Simpler pricing structures, unlimited plans and no contract plans. What’s not so great? No more free calls to your myFaves “Fave Five” and a new and (maybe) improved pricing system for phones.
Of the two new T-Mobile plans, the Even More plan is closest to what T-Mobile customers are used to. T-Mobile’s Even More plan gives you unlimited calling starting at $59 per month with plans ranging up to $99 for additional unlimited features (i.e. unlimited data, unlimited text messaging). The Even More plan also comes with a discounted phone.
Even More Plus is a bit more of a departure. There’s no annual contract, unlimited talk for $49.99, unlimited talk and text for $59.99 and unlimited talk, text and web for $79.99. The catch? No subsidized phone discounts. But here’s where the newest twist comes into play. T-Mobile eases the initial sticker shock for buying a new phone with the new FlexPay plan that lets you pay off your phone in monthly installment. There are two flavors of FlexPay – one for Even More that comes with a contract and then the FlexPay monthly plan for the Even More Plus phones. Where FlexPay really shines is for the expanded range of prepaid plans. Absent the subsidy that comes with a contract, FlexPay makes it easier to afford a full featured phone.
Of course, most FlexPay is neither here nor there if you buy from Cell-Phone-Plans.net – most of our top T-Mobile phones are free! That includes the T-Mobile Tap, the Nokia 2720 and the Sony Ericsson Equinox.
But what may be most shocking to longtime T-Mobile customers is that the wireless provider is now quietly phasing out the myFaves feature, which let you call five contacts for free, regardless of carrier. The myFaves home screen will still be pre-installed on T-Mobile phones for now, but now it’s merely a convenience – the calls won’t be free for new T-Mobile customers. Current T-Mobile users need not worry yet. Those who already have the myFaves feature will still be able to make free calls to their Fave Five – for now.
Even More and Even More Plus are designed to make T-Mobile more competitive and offer more flexibility and affordability to its customers. The changes are sweeping – but whether the overhaul was drastic enough remains to be seen. For now, we get some novel offerings that may be a perfect fit for some cell phone users.
