Top 5 Nokia Smartphones – Winner: Nokia E71

Bestcovery has posted up its list of the top 5 Nokia smartphones and the iconic Nokia E71 tops the list. The Nokia E71 has been a longtime favorite among Nokia fanatics, in spite of its somewhat dated S60 operating system (rather than calling it old fashioned, fanatics claim its “tried and  true”). The Nokia E71 has a physical QWERTY and a compact design and looks, feels and operates like an alternative BlackBerry. It also has WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, microSD expansion (up to 8 GB), PUSH email notification and support for viewing and editing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Best of all, you can get a free Nokia E71 from AT&T.

Read on to learn about the runners up:

Nokia E72

The Nokia E72 is the upgrade from the Nokia E71 and its definitely sleeker and faster than the Nokia E71. However, it is a good deal pricier than the Nokia E71. If you can find it for a great price, go for the Nokia E72 – it’s a better phone. But we doubt you’ll find a better price than the free Nokia E71x from AT&T – at least not until the next big thing comes out.

Nokia N900

The Nokia N900 is an incredible hulk of a smartphone that just about lands it in tablet territory. Most exciting is the fact that it runs Maemo, the Linux-based operating system for Nokia phones. Maemo is gorgeous, especially compared to S60, and once the ball gets rolling, it’s sure to have some excellent apps. Also, as an Nseries phone, the Nokia N900 packs plenty of multimedia muscle with an excellent camera and a sharper pixel resolution than the Motorola Droid and the iPhone 3Gs.

Nokia N97

The Nokia N97 is like the Nokia N900’s little brother. It’s got a 5-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and an unheard of 32 GB of  internal memory. However, it’s not quite as snappy on account of it having a lesser processor when compared to the N900.

Nokia N85

The Nokia N85 is a classic smartphone without the flashy extras. It’s got email and web browsing support and decent audio playback but it still looks like a normal cell phone instead of a Gameboy (although it does game very well, with the N-Gage gaming platform). It has a 3.5mm audio jack and an FM tuner and the same Carl Zeiss lens and 5-megapixel camera as its pricier siblings.
