Motorola Rival from Verizon Wireless, a Messaging Centric Phone


With its amazing features, the newest messaging phone, the Motorola Rival will leave you the excitement that comes with technology at its best. Renowned phone maker, Motorola has been hard at work lately and their efforts can be seen clearly from the new Motorola Rival available from Verizon Wireless. With its ability to offer multimedia features and high speed EV-DO, Motorola Rival has proven to be a rival to other brands in the messaging category. It has the looks of LG Neon with a touch sensitive keyboard.

Motorola Rival comes with a 176 x 220 resolution 2.2 inch display with the ability of supporting 65,000 colours. It has provision for setting the backlight time, brightness, display themes, menu layouts, dialing display, menu font size, clock format and showing shortcuts on the main display. It has an industrial look and is suitable for harsh environments. The design is sleek and stylish and the functionality is preserved by a large margin. The phone displays has a touch screen but only for the phone dialer. At the bottom sides of the display, there are two touch sensitive soft keys indicated by two lights. Then there is the dialer key, a four way center key and send and Power keys. The four -way center key is used for short cuts previously set.

Motorola Rival is endowed with a full QWERTY key board that makes typing and texting faster and easier. When you slide the top, the display automatically changes from portrait to landscape mode. To make it easier for instant messaging, there are dedicated keys for instant messaging and text messaging.

Motorola Rival comes with instant messenger supporting various IMs including AIM and Yahoo. It also comes with a HTML compatible web browser complete with VZ navigation maps. These are useful in case you are an unfamiliar place. The cell phone is also Bluetooth compatible with the ability to support various profile such as hands free, stereo among others. Motorola comes with a reasonably good internal memory and a microSD slot for expandable memory of up to 8GB. Motorola Rival supports various email clients including mobile email, web mail and corporate email.

Bottom Line: Motorola Rival is endowed with a fully featured music player that makes music listening with the phone revolutionary. You can also create and edit your playlists. The phone prides in a 2.0 mega pixel camera located on the back. It can take pictures up to five resolutions with the highest and lowest being 1600 x 1200 and ID mode respectively. The camcorder has controls that allow for maximum video recording. The multimedia experience is taken a notch higher with its ability stream live video. The phone can be synced with a personal computer via a USB that supports mass storage.
