New iPhone 5 Due to Arrive Tuesday
Long awaited, and surrounded by speculation, the newest iPhone, the iPhone 5, is slated to be unveiled this coming Tuesday, October 4th. Although we haven’t laid eyes on it yet, there are some things we expect to see.
A Larger Screen and More Upgraded Features, including “The Assistant”
The latest generation of Apple’s iPhone is expected to have a larger touch screen than iPhone’s last incarnation, more in keeping with the 4.3 inch standard we’ve seen on various Android models. Of course, it is also expected to possess a faster processor and a data connection three times faster than that of the iPhone 4. Besides this, the new phones will come with 8-megapixel cameras that make shoddy cell-phone photos a thing of the past.
If the success of the iPhone 4, which has been on the market for eons, is any indicator, then the next generation iPhone is certain to be a real blockbuster, as well. Apple’s fans will no doubt love one anticipated feature above all others – the feature which is being called “The Assistant.”
The Assistant is a voice activated ios5 feature, which enables users to talk to text, and give voice commands. This functionality is similar to that offered in Android’s notification system.
In addition, iPhone 5 is anticipated to come in a few models. A less expensive 16GB model, a standard 32GB model, and a pricey 64GB model are said to be on their way to consumers.
Anticipated Sales and Other Statistics
Speaking of consumers, they are waiting eagerly for this Tuesday to arrive. The unveiling will take place in Silicon Valley, and will be led by new Apple CEO Tim Cook. It is not known whether Steve Jobs will be participating in the iPhone 5 debut.
Sales are anticipated to be high, particularly as the iPhone has proven itself a success since its 2007 debut. Since then, iPhones have accounted for an incredible estimated forty percent of Apple’s revenue and 28% of the US market share. China and other Asian nations are key Apple markets as well, but it remains to be seen whether these countries will be as excited about the newest iPhone as Apple aficionados in western nations will be.
Wall street has forecasted incredible sales between October and December of this year, particularly as the iPhone 5 is an in-demand item on many holiday wish lists. Apple’s stock is predicted to soar in the wake of the product release.
Which Carriers Will Offer the iPhone 5?
While Verizon and AT&T are exclusive carriers, Sprint could become the next carrier to offer customers a chance to experience all the iPhone 5 has to offer. This is speculative of course, however it makes sense for as many carriers as possible to offer the latest technological marvels available.
Needless to say, there is plenty of excited anticipation in the air, and if you want to get in on a new iPhone 5, you can expect to see your share of competition, since the handsets are certain to be popular. The phones are expected to hit the streets sometime around October 13th – and if past Apple product releases are any indicator, fans will need to stand in line. Get ready – it’s almost here!
