Top 20 Most Popular Cell Phones Overall

Cell phones these days are coming in more sizes, shapes and colors than ever before and come loaded with a veritable smorgasbord of features. With cellular phones designed to be camera phones, music playing phones, PDA smartphones, Internet phones and mix and match combination and hybrids, there seems to be little consensus on what a phone should be, except that it should be stylish, high tech and fun to use. Here at the Cell Phones Blog, we’ve taken a close look at a lot of phones, and we’ve noticed some interesting trends emerging. Check out what the top 20 most popular overall cell phones have in common, and what they don’t:

1. LG Vu CU920 from AT&T

Reigning champion as the number one overall cell phone at Cell-Phone-Plans.net, this fetching touch screen phone packs a ton of features into an innovative design. The LG Vu has an ample 3 inch display and, unlike some other notable contenders in the touch screen sector, this one has haptic feedback for extra accuracy while navigating those lovely menus. This thing zips on AT&T’s WCDMA network with HSDPA speeds, quad band support and a full HTML browser, so nothing gets lost in translation. The only complaints: the 2.0 megapixel has no flash and the streaming video could perform a little bit better. But at a smashingly affordable price, it’s no wonder that readers are snapping the LG Vu up in droves.

2. Motorola Krave from Verizon Wireless

American cell phone users have been craving the Krave ever since they got a load of the Motorola Ming, a sassy, futuristic flip phone only available in Asia. Now that Verizon has brought the Motorola Krave states-side, we can all enjoy the nifty form and function unlike that you’ll find on any other phone. What makes the Krave so cool? The transparent cover flips up to reveal a bona fide touch screen and when its flipped down, you can press buttons through the cover for a secondary set of selections. Pretty neat, huh?

But the Krave isn’t just here for design oos and ahhs. IT has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a full QWERTY keyboard (that’s right) and a 2.0 megapixel camera. Some might call this space age phone otherworldly, but really, it’s simply the best of both worlds – touch screen and flip phone.

3. BlackBerry Curve from Sprint

In a close (very close) third, we have the BlackBerry Curve from Sprint. RIM takes this opportunity to prove that good things do come in small packages (and three colors: red, black and inferno orange). The Curve is all the PDA that the standard BlackBerry is, but it’s smaller, lighter and, hey it even has some extra bells and whistles. With full e-mail and messaging capability, push to talk (PTT), Built-in GPS, Wi-Fi support and video recording, the Curve makes it easy to take the office with you, God knows why you’d want to work when your away from the cubicle, but for those who are compelled to get things done, night or day, wherever you are, the BlackBerry Curve let’s you do it without lugging a bulky laptop along with you. And when you’re not closing deals, you can enjoy an amazing range of media playability, with support for  MP3, AAC, MIDI, WAV, AVI, MP4, MOV and 3GP. Not bad.

So, there we have it. The Top Three is graced by phones from Sprint, Verizon and AT&T and features a touch screen, a full QWERTY PDA smartphone and one that’s a little bit of both. For the curious, here’s how the rest of the competition stacked up:
