Top 20 Cell Phones for January 2010
We here at the Cell Phone Plans blog pay attention to what you like and the figures for January 2010 are interesting indeed. Among the top 20 cell phones amongst all carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint) and manufacturers, there was a decent mix of smartphones and multimedia phones. This shows us that many of you are using your phones for data and web browsing more and more, but basic cell phones that are primarily used for calling, texting and occasionally watching a video or listening to a song are still popular. Here are a few highlights from the full list of top 20 cell phones for January 2010.
Samsung Mythic
Samsung Mythic, from AT&T, was the number one phone this month. The Mythic has long been a popular phone, loved for its intuitive TouchWiz interface, which lets you pick and choose widgets to add to your customizable home screen. The 3.3-inch touch screen is also great for viewing AT&T’s Mobile TV or taking advantage of AT&T Video Share, for one-way video calling. Also, it doesn’t hurt that this AT&T smartphone is free for a limited time.
BlackBerry Curve 8900
A whole new crew of smartphones and PDA phones have burst onto the scene – from the iPhone to the new Android phones and the new Palm webOS phones – but Research in Motion proves that BlackBerry is always in style. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 from T-Mobile came in at 5th most popular cell phone – another free phone on offer currently.
HTC Droid Eris
Before the Google Nexus One came onto the scene and stole all the attention, the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Eris on Verizon Wireless were getting all the attention. The HTC Droid Eris is a slimmer, more affordable version of the more robust Motorola Droid and it wound up 12th on our list of most popular cell phones.
18. AT&T Quickfire – AT&T (3 colors) Please Push Orange
AT&T QuickFire (Orange)
The AT&T QuickFire made by UTStarcom is very similar to the wildly popular T-Mobile Sidekick. We’ve seen renewed interest in this trusty, free messaging phone with a great physical QWERTY since we now offer it in orange.
