Motorola Krave
Verizon’s Motorola Krave is, in some ways, the U.S. version of the popular Asian Motorola cell phone, the Motorola Ming. For one, Motorola Krave’s got the same distinctive design, with a slim, compact form and a transparent plastic cover that flips up to give access to a touch screen. While the cover serves to give the Motorola Krave more of a flip phone feel, it also serves as an additional touch surface that opens up a secondary set of selections that can be accessed without opening the phone. Krave owners can quickly access the music player, V Cast Mobile TV, photos and VZ Navigator without opening the phone. Motorola Krave also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which precludes the oft-grumbled about need for a 2.5mm adapter.
Tactile feedback and a slick 12 icon main menu make navigating the Motorola Krave quick and easy. Scrolling through lists and webpages is smooth and fluid and dialing is responsive and accurate. Texters will also be delighted by the full QWERTY keyboard. The 2.0 megapixel camera shoots an hour’s worth of video (though multimedia messages are limited to 20 seconds) and has a digital zoom. Another cool feature: a very iPhone-esque photo slide show when the phone is switched to landscape mode.
Performance-wise, Krave delivers what you’d expect from a Motorola cell phone. Call quality is excellent with virtually no dropped calls. There’s 4.2 hours talk time and 20.8 days standby time for the battery life. There’s a half-way decent speaker on the back that is not entirely disappointing when used for MP3 playback (though, obviously, headphones are the way to go). An EVDO phone, Krave has smooth V Cast streaming video support.
Bottom-line: the Motorola Krave is packed with multimedia features, is easy to use and looks very, very cool
