HTC Touch Pro2 – Now with Windows Mobile 6.5
The HTC Touch Pro2 and the T-Mobile Dash 3G have both been praised heavily for their excellent hardware features and distinctly elegant design by HTC. If these two phones had any flaws, it’s that they ran Windows Mobile 6.1 rather than the newfangled Windows Mobile 6.5. But not anymore.
HTC Touch Pro2 and T-Mobile Dash 3G owners can upgrade their Windows Mobile operating systems for free over teh air via T-Mobile. Here’s how:
To begin your upgrade process, first located the IMEI number on your phone. You can do this by pressing “Start” at the home screen and then choosing “Settings.” Hit “More” until you see “Device Information.” Choose it and hit “Identity.” Scroll down until you see the 15-digit IMEI number.
Next, visit the T-Mobile website and download the software and follow the instructions.
So, what’s new in Windows Mobile 6.5? For those upgrading from Windows Mobile 6.1, you’ll enjoy:
- Improved, smoother scrolling
- New lock screen with text message notifications and other information
- New “Start Menu” for quick launching of your favorite apps
- New, easier-to-navigate contextual menus
- Access to Windows Marketplace for Mobile
- Mobile Internet Explorer 6 with smooth panning, intelligent zooming and better page rendering
