HTC Incredible Poised to Take Over Google Nexus One?

At the moment, the HTC Incredible is non-existent, but rumor has it that this phone may be pushing Google’s Nexus One into oblivion. The latest news from Verizon, well rumor, is that the HTC Incredible has taken testing precedence over the Nexus One.

Only, the problem with this scenario is that Verizon plans to use the exact same screen for the HTC Incredible that’s currently causing frustration on the Nexus One (yep, the same screen that currently outfits the HTC Desire). Since both the Nexus One and the HTC Incredible will have the same screen (and the same screen problems), it’s safe to say that Verizon’s choice to work solely on the HTC Incredible means that the Nexus One has largely been pushed aside – maybe permanently.

For now, the only news surrounding the HTC Incredible comes in the form of rumors, though some recent photos of the new HTC Incredible have surfaced. A few sources claim that the new Incredible will have brilliant red buttons, but others in-the-know believe these colorful buttons to be mere prototype. Whether black, white, or read all over, the hype surrounding the HTC is huge, and fans can’t wait to get a glimpse of this already legendary phone.

As for the release date of the HTC Incredible, well, the launch seems to be set for some time around March 23rd, though newer rumors are reporting a May launch. One thing’s for sure, Verizon’s not likely to launch the Incredible or the Nexus (if it survives the HTC hype) until either phone is near perfect.

UPDATE: Apparently, the HTC Incredible has been spotted in the wild. Somehow, from this shaky cell phone video, we’ve gleaned the following information about its specs:

  • Snapdragon Processor
  • Android 2.1 with sens UI
  • Optical mouse pointer
  • Dual LED Flash for camera
  • 256 megabytes of RAM
  • 3.5 to 3.7 inch screen with WVGA resolution
  • Possibly AMOLED touchscreen
