BlackBerry vs. iPhone

Smartphones are everywhere, and while the popularity of the Apple iPhone continues to grow, there are several manufacturers producing phones with similar, if not equal, capabilities.  One of the leaders in smartphone technology is Research in Motion’s BlackBerry, who is keeping pace with the iPhone both in technology and sales.  But which one is putting out the better product?

One major difference can be found in network connectivity: the iPhone operates on a 3G network, while some BlackBerry models, such as the Curve 8310, do not.  Despite this, both have similar processing speeds; BlackBerry models get about an hour more talk time out of their batteries than the iPhone, in part because they are not on 3G networks.  While it seems that many prefer the call quality on the iPhone, many surveys have the two brands very close to one another in overall call quality.

A major consideration for anyone deciding between these two brands is what you need your mobile device.  While the iPhone has built its reputation on handling digital medias, it is not widely used for business applications.  In fact, many companies discourage their employees from using their iPhones for work purposes; whereas BlackBerry is renowned for being very business friendly.

Considering that many BlackBerry models beat or rival iPhone pricing, the question of which phone is right for you hinges more on your needs than the quality of the phones.  Both brands offer excellent quality, but at the moment, it seems BlackBerry might have an edge in overall utility.
