5 Cool Cell Phone Apps for Women
Tech isn’t just for nerds anymore – moms, career women and students alike can now benefit from a little lifehacking made possible through smartphone apps for women. Without being presumptuous (we know not all women are obsessed with staying in shape and shopping), we’ve wrangled up a few top apps that women are downloading onto their smartphones, including the iPhone, the Palm Pre Plus (the “smartphone smart enough for mom”) and Android phones. Check them out:1.
Livestrong
The Livestrong app links you up to Lance Armstrong’s health, wellness and physical fitness site. With one of the most expansive indexes of food and nutrition facts, Livestrong makes it easy to count those calories, whether you’re whipping up your signature homemade comfort food or dining out at a sit-down restaurant.
Livestrong Calorie Counter app is available for the iPhone and BlackBerry. You can also access Livestrong.com’s The Daily Plate from any web-enabled smartphone.
Grocery Gadget
Can’t remember if you have milk already? Need to compile a shopping list for a week’s worth of meals? Grocery Gadget to the rescue! This app saves the day with some of the most sophisticated shopping list planning features available on a smartphone app.
Grocery Gadget is for iPhone, currently, but it’ll be available for BlackBerry Storm, Motorola Droid, Palm Pre, HTC Touch and the Samsung Instinct soon.
Gilt
Gilt on the Go gives you instant alerts for designer deals on luxury brands offered by the invite-only Gilt Groupe.
Gilt on the Go is available on the iPhone.
Woman Calendar
This app costs $9.99 but it’s worth every penny. Whether you’re using the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) to conceive or avoid conceiving or you just want to track your monthly cycle, Woman Calendar is the absolute best pregnancy app for women. For example, if you’re tracking your basal body temperature, you can just leave a thermometer and your iPhone on the nightstand and roll over first thing in the morning (the ideal time to do so) and take all the important information down.
Woman Calendar is for iPhone and Android phones, but BEIKS make an Ovulation Calendar for Palm and Windows Mobile phones that is comparable.
Family Finder Apps
This isn’t one app, per se, but it’s a service offered by all the major cell phone plan providers, including AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. For an additional monthly fee, you can keep tabs on the whereabouts of all your family members – as long as they have a GPS-enabled phone. This is a great to make sure that they really are on their way home from swim practice without having to constantly nag them via text or phone calls.
Are you a mom? What’s your favorite cell phone app?
