The UTStarcom Coupe 8630, a Great Handset Designed For Senior Citizens

When looking for cell phones that are good for seniors it can be a somewhat daunting task. When making searches one of the phones that seem to come up more often is the UTStarcom Coupe 8630. I thought it would be a good idea to find out a little more about the design and what makes this phone a good one for seniors and the following is some of the information that I found.
So what makes this a good phone for seniors?
The first thing to begin with is that this cell phone has a very large keypad which will allow the easier pressing and sight of keys to dial phone numbers. The smaller keypad of other cell phones is something that will cause will cause a lot of problems for some of the senior population as it will be a lot harder to locate and press the buttons correctly.
In addition to that the Coupe 8630 also has three very large buttons that are programmable for emergency buttons and there is also a 911 button for serious emergencies. This will allow the senior to call for help with literally the press of a couple buttons without having to remember phone numbers or locate one through a contact list during an urgent situation. Without the need for any memorization the senior will be able to get immediate help through this cell phone if they need it.
To add even more value to the phone then is already there the phone also has a very large display and a very high quality speakerphone. The display is large enough for even a poor sighted person to be able to read the display without much if any difficulty. The larger display is pretty much a requirement when it comes to a phone for a senior along with the speakerphone which is very useful for a senior that is hard of hearing.
The phone is very lightweight, more so than other types of cell phones, coming in at only 3.3 ounces.
With all of the benefits of the phone there are always bound to be some confines. Let’s take a look at those. Many of the people that have used this phone state that the device is one that is very limited within the wireless data system realm. There isn’t any capability for Bluetooth and there is no SMS picture messaging available with this phone. All of these might be a big downfall for a younger consumer but for the senior none of these are really anything significant or even a problem at all.

The bottom line of this phone is that it’s so suitable due to the fact that it is simple and user friendly. It provides some of the most important features for a senior; especially should trouble strike and they need to make a quick call for help. If you’re looking to purchase a cell phone for your older parent(s) or grandparent(s) the UTStarcom Coupe 8630 is the phone to look at.
