Clarity ClarityLife C900, A Good Phone for Senior Citizens

The ClarityLife C900 is a cell phone that is a slider phone which is specifically designed with the senior in mind. The phone comes with large buttons which are very easy to press along with emergency features like a built-in flashlight and the phone is able to run on AA batteries in addition to the included rechargeable battery.
If you’re familiar with Bluetooth headsets than you’re likely familiar with the company Plantronics. Clarity is actually a division of the Plantronics Company. The phone is an unlocked GSM phone. What that means is that once you purchase the phone you aren’t purchasing it for a specific company you have the option to go to one once purchasing like AT&T or T-Mobile and you don’t have to have a contract.

The phone is large, coming in even larger than the Samsun Jitterbug, but that means that it’s simply easier for someone to grip even if they are suffering from arthritis. The phone does have the capability for SMS messaging should the user wish to take advantage of that option. This is something that the Jitterbug does not support.
While the phone is large so is the handsets screen. The screen comes in at 2.75 inches making it very easy to see the screen. A downfall is that although the keypad has large keys they are completely flush to the surface of the phone which makes them harder to press for someone that has difficulty.
The other feature talked about was the flashlight. This is something that can be activated at the touch of a button. There is an emergency button that is with the phone as well. It doesn’t call 911 though; you’d have to setup a speed dial for that though. What it does is it actually calls a list of up to five preset contacts until it reaches one of those contacts. While there is only 50 contacts for the Jitterbug there is room to hold up to 200 contacts with the ClarityLife C900.
Some of the additional features are as follows:
•    Call waiting
•    Call forwarding
•    Calculator
•    Birthday reminder (important for those grandparents that never want to forget)
Clarity self ranks the battery life of the C900 at 2.5 hours. There is no independent test to confirm but it’s a realistic time. The qualities of the calls are good and loud. Due to the loudness of the calls it will pick up some background noise.
You can find additional reviews at http://www.cnet.com or http://www.phonescoop.com CNET will offer a full review like this one and you’ll find some photos and a video walkthrough of the phone form PhoneScoop.
We’ll go ahead and end off with a pros and cons list. It’s not all inclusive but it is the real jist of what the phone will and won’t bring to you.

•    Unlocked GSM
•    Good call quality
•    Loud volume
•    Built-in one button flashlight
•    Emergency call features
