The Smartphones That Almost But Didn’t Quite
There have been a lot of smartphone disappointments over the years, but none as disappointing as the Samsung Omnia. This phone promised to be sleeker and faster than any other smartphone on the market, but it was quickly discredited when consumers found out that connecting to any 3G network was simply impossible.
Since Samsung did not include 3G capabilities when the Omnia was built, many consumers were largely disappointed. The other major issue with the Omnia is the fact that the touchscreen isn’t entirely responsive. Without the use of a stylus, touching the Omnia in order to get where you’re going is less than impossible. Thus, the Omnia has earned the title of biggest smartphone disappointment.
Another smartphone that was highly anticipated, but feel short of expectations, is the RIM BlackBerry Storm 2. The first BlackBerry phones on the market were something of a wonder, since these phones could do what other phones couldn’t. Today, numerous smartphones are giving BlackBerry a run for it money, which is why the Storm 2 is greatly disappointing.
While the Storm 2 promised to be better than its predecessor (the BlackBerry Storm), this phone still didn’t have it all together. The biggest complaint about the Storm 2 is that the screen is still lagging behind other touchscreens in its class. Users may become frustrated with attempting to use the touchscreen, which takes a lot of getting used to. Considering the fact that the Storm 2 is rather expensive ($200+), it’s no wonder that this smartphone has made the disappointment list.
Lastly, Google’s Nexus One is entirely disappointing when compared to its competitor the iPhone. Even though Google has great faith in the Nexus One, this smartphone just doesn’t compare to the iPhone. Why does this matter? Consumers who are looking for an iPhone replacement want a phone that does everything the iPhone can do – and more. Only, the Nexus One falls short by not offering any of the multi-touch features that makes the iPhone so popular.
